Our Kids On The Journey Of Nature Positive Farming

By Guy Wilkins, Wai Kōkopu Forestry Restoration

Wai Kōkopu engaged with Pongakawa School and Mike Judd’s AWOL (another way of learning) class came out on Tuesday the 19th of September. They arrived at Dala Singh’s property to watch the planting crew in action and learn about native planting. Planting crew leaders Kaiyah and Shamah helped teach the students the correct planting techniques we are using. There were only five spades spare so the students each had a turn planting. By the end, all the students planted at least one tree with one boy planting 20. We look forward to having Pongakawa School out again to do some more planting with us next year.
